then regenned some, went out, met him again at ford and started 
following his trail as he ran w...

met some puketeers w of swept, fought them some at neni, them got
spanked us got spanked, went plank at swept tho they woldnt let us regen
so we ran stonedoor...

I missed the line where stolb swapped boots, and I saw fine sleeves and thought it was shirt. I know some still manage to RP during PK but with sites like ER and Mume.net the seperation of in-game characters and RL people is lost. Instead of a PK situation being an *elf* vs an *orc* it has become p(person1) vs p(person2). Instead of a battle between characters it becomes a test of who can make the best char (stats, levels, eq). Yes, there are some examples of pure knowledge and talent determining the outcome of a battle but there are way more instances where someone is killed purely because their character isnt as fine-tuned as their killer.

It's not actually all ER/Mume.net's fault. The features of MUME (narrates, high rewards for fame, and importance of eq) are also to blame.

Going by these examples you can see that MUME isnt an RPG in the traditional sense. Its more like an adventure game thrown into an RPG theme.

By your logic: You respond as Wiseman to something. I have never seen Wiseman in pk... thus I assume Wiseman is purely an RP (non-pk) character that knows nothing about pk. Sogard has proven to me (as Sogard) to be an idiot, thus I treat him as one. I do not know his other chars, and the way he plays those chars might be redeeming in some way.

I do not pk a lot as any of my chars except my darkies. Wridush is my Orc-Shaman who I pk with the majority of the time I am on him. Schmidt is my cleric that I pk with when it comes to me, or I am following someone who wanted to pk, and I am in the mood.

As far as responding the same way due to your characters, that is all up to you. As Schmidt I have no problem same siding any EVIL whitie I come across, but as Furor, or Lief, or Antar, I will only kill them if they committed a heinous (sp?) crime and someone witnessed it and informed me via narrate, or tells.

Your missed a key point in your reference to my logic...if you think of p(Sogard) as an idiot and he revealed who else he plays you would then treat his other chars on the basis of your opinions. There is no seperation between the chars and their real-life counterparts. It totally eliminates his ability to play different characters in different ways in relation to his meetings with you in-game. Each time you met one of his chars (the ones you know he plays) you would treat him as the same person. Under this scenario RP is impossible because you are relating to the person and not the in-game char.

To further illustrate: I've actually pk'ed quite a bit with Schmidt as one of my legend dwarf warriors and even recieved praise from you on one occasion...but if I were to reveal that I am also Wiseman from ER you would associate that same char with my personality on ER (positive or negative), not on your experiences pk'ing with me. Thus you never would of grouped with me in the first place because you make assumptions about me based on never seeing my only visible ER char in pk (thus I am an rper and have no skill in pk).

I reread your post about 5 times and still cant see where I missed you r point, please point it out to me as I just got home from a long day in the cube farm and cant think straight until ive had at least 1 jack and coke. :)

The difference here, Wiseman, is that Sogard has been hiding who he plays for ages. You have been hiding them as well, and I know exactly who you are, and I still don't consider you a pker, just like I don't consider myself a pker (unless on certain chars).

I think lowly of most of the players of MUME, because I am arrogant, I can accept that. People don't like me, I have accepted that as well. But I still don't hide my chars once I start to actively play them.

To be honest, the last time I told someone who I was, was the last time I played my troll, and decided to go do mirkwood and some other things. Convinced the group I was xping at warrens(mostly midlvls, few sub lvl 10) to go e, the agreed, one asked who I was while we were moving, I told them, and the response I got was along the lines of 'fuck you, following you would be a waste of my time'. Rest of us still had fun. I often tell my groupmembers who I am. If you don't like the fact I don't narrate who i am, then you can cry me a river, I honestly don't care.

It's always fun to have someone constantly hunting a lowbie orc you're trying to xp because your lowbie did a 'great injustice' to the uruk, which is all the excuse you really need on the dark side.

Sard, you missed the point that the player figured that because of who I was, the trip wouldn't be fun, he left, and the rest of us had fun. Besides, the troll didn't even say who they were, so there wasn't any reason to give a damn what they thought. The rest of us had fun. It wasn't the best xp/time ratio, but our group knew it wouldn't be.

If you grouped with me lately, you'd have known about it kenzu, because as I said before, I often tell people who i am if they ask*.

* On puke side. As i already mentioned, I've had a few of MUME's more...unique players try to sameside me for rather poor RP reasons on the darkside.

I'm done argueing with you. This is starting to remind me of whenb I tried to explain to gray the difference between an item and an actual character.

OOH!!! I love logic arguments! They are really neat and stuff. Anyway, how about this. If Sogard is RPing an idiot, than that is fine, and you can judge just his char on that merit. For instance, if I ever RP Mougoo, I am a cow. I don't make all of my characters cows, but I figured having a guy who thinks he is a cow would be fun. Am I an idiot? Quite possibly, I have done some fairly stupid things lately. However, I doubt Sogard is RPing an idiot, he is almost definately out of character when he does stupid things. And, as that shows what type of person he would be in RL, since he is out of character, therefore I can judge that he is probably that way for all the other chars he has. Makes perfect sense. And its perfectly easy to RP in pk, just no-one does it in a group, because it makes it too hard, but it would be easy enough to do, turn off tales, and go off and be Tolkienish.

Sard: You should read posts more closely, the group knew ahead of time that the trip we were going on wasn't going to be an xp one, the player didn't mind, en route he asked who I was, and then bitched and left. If they cared about xp, they would've left the group when I told the group that taking such a large group east wouldn't be very good xp, rather than sit with us until night, and wait until we're by DT do leave.

Kenzu: Perhaps they don't like me as a person, and vice versa? I know when I helped nazgum sameside some people who whacked Durcano(?) afk for his eq I made a few enemies because our actions were 'disgusting, and pathetic'. People need very little reason to sameside when playing darkie.

I logged on when you guys had Nazgum trapped in DT, I missed the moria part. I got online, saw nazgum was on and asked how he was, which he replied along the lines of 'bad, need help DT now', I ran there and saw him fighting you guys and had no idea what the fuck was going on (I figured he ment pukes). Helped him get back to noc where we were joined by a couple others(i think vrool joined us?), and we whacked a couple of the orcs who came back to noc.
Then I started getting tells and mails from people flaming me for being such an asshole to sameside lowbies. :P
