their real life adventures and a bit about news, events and trends
in this game we play called MUME.

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the first edition of Auntie Blenda’s gossip column! (*glares* at Celint and Naga for giving me that name).
I am proud to be the first man *cough* to write this column and hopefully they shall turn out as entertaining as the ones in the past! Thanks Kelen for all your hard work with the column over the past years! With the bun in the oven it may be time for you to have a little break! Good luck honey.
I am not going to bore you with any long introductions; most of you should have some vague clue of who I am (Just look at the spam thread!). I’ve played mume since 2002, although my activeness has been sporadic at times. I am Swedish (ha!) and may be a tad crazy. Need I say more? Oh and I live with Goths. Lady Goths. Arrr.

Moving on to more important stuff, and what could be more important than the annual Mume Summer Meeting! As most of you should know by now, this years meeting will take place in Slovenia during the 31st of July (Monday) to the 6th of August (Sunday) If you haven’t already, go to the Mume meeting's official homepage and register! The more the merrier! And guess what! There won’t be any Swedes! (Looks like a no show from the Swedes--Again. Anyone surprised? :P) Instead we will have our first (I think) mumer from Australia! If all goes well, Boofhead should be coming down, unless he drinks away all of his money. And Thurge will be coming down again! So head over to the 2006 Mume meet Summer/Autumn thread and start planning your trip! It’s the event of the year!
-
It’s almost that time of year folks! The ER Glowsticks are around the corner again! There will be a huge report on this in my next column, but start looking for those logs that you love now!
-
The ER spam thread is still going strong, 18142 posts! They tried to shut us down with the 60 second wait time between posts but we’re not giving up. First 100k, then the world!
-
In recent mume news, Rangers now have the option of being able to go incognito and whilst incognito, a ranger will not be listed under ‘who ranger’. Hopefully there will still be enough rangers to help the new players around! It’s well confusing playing this game in the beginning. I still can’t find my way out of bree sometimes: x Breelegend ho!

When I took this job, one of the things I wanted to do was interact with the players. After all, this column is all about you! So for every column I shall hopefully have interviewed a few mumers, and with their permission, put their answers up here. So for this column, I asked four mumers this question:
Have you ever been stuck on certain levels, and if so, why?
pNaga: I've sometimes realized that I have trouble with lower levels,
due to overconfidence on my part. I am used to playing higher level chars or like a troll, and when I go back to lowbies I keep forgetting how frail they really are!
pThurge: At the moment I am stuck at lvl 34, I blame it on the poor
representation of the squirrel table! Other than that, I've found my
playstyle less effective the more levels I get. Sitting and waiting for pukes somewhere out west and reading elvenrunes at the same time, does not really grant power xp! (Blenda - Start using hotkeys you damn troll!)
pBogger - Well, I don't think I've had any extreme difficulty with any specific levels although I did struggle a bit with lvl 51. I mobripped three times! First was at Balrog, Erebos was leading! He suddenly moved into the balrog room with only me following and on berserk! He waited until I had died and then pulled some czech-move and got out! The second time was when I was at the lab. Khozdul and I tried to do Necromancer, but somehow I managed to die with full shining and all. Whole lab laughed and I cried. The last time was in Ghost Captain, I was buffing and was getting
low, so I was about to get key, but Aerie takes it before, to show he has better looting skills than a swede. He then has a mega freeze and doesn't unlock until I mobripped :/ I lost about 1.75 million xp each time and it took several months of playing to finally
reach 52!
pAlf: Anything between 10 and 21. Back in the day my area knowledge forced me to be the expert brown bear hunter. After level 10 they didn't give much exp. Luckily, at 21 you could join supermob groups for exp!'
-
The winter Olympics have been on and I know a lot of you have been sitting in front of your television cheering your fellow countrymen on! Sweden surpassed all expectations and acquired many medals! No action track was used either!
-
Due to this being an extremely busy period at my University, I haven’t been able to keep track on who has levelled recently or if someone has had a birthday. So Happy Birthday to all of you! If you want to find yourself on the column, just send me an email at palantiri@elvenrunes.com
I haven’t been able to actively play mume either for the past 2 months, again due to the amount of uni work. Easter is around the corner (which means free time), so my next column, which will hopefully be out on the 1st of April will be filled with a lot more gaming news! (From now on, all the columns will be out on the 1st of each month).
-
That’s it for me folks. Until next time! Don’t cheat kids! And before I disappear, I’ll end with this:
Vairë says 'you were wonderful now I need a cigarette :P’
Need I go into details…? Arrrr!
